Run
Solitude can follow
those in need
of a little armor
The peace of protection
surrounds
against the tide of crowds
and shatters the blades
sharpened for deception
But the weight of safety
gets heavy after a while
and it’s hard to breathe
underwater
so I take a breath and run through the darkness
looking for a chance
in the light
that was always there

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Since I can’t seem to write anything sweet and mushy, here’s a dark little love poem with a hopeful ending. Be good to each other and be good to Mother Nature.
